INDICATOR
HMA Cycle Oscillator
J. Ehlers Style
Meet HMA Cycle Oscillator — a clean, phase-driven view of market rhythm. It derives CycleOsc (the main sine) and LeadSine (the leading line) from an adaptive HMA pipeline, then opens a colored Cycle Window whenever a new half-cycle is likely underway. Green marks upward bias, red marks downward, gray says “wait.” Built on signal-processing ideas popularized by John Ehlers, it favors acting in the active part of movement instead of chasing the tail.
Description
Price often looks random until you view it as a signal. HMA Cycle Oscillator lightly PreSmooths price, estimates a dominant cycle, and maps that rhythm into two simple lines: CycleOsc and LeadSine. When the pair flips phase, the tool paints a Cycle Window that lasts about half the measured period—long enough to matter, short enough to avoid overstaying. You can even restrict the earliest portion via Entry Window Fraction to stay disciplined. Add your usual context—levels, volatility, or Adaptive HMA—while the oscillator handles the timing core: see the turn, act in the window, and step aside when the window closes.
Main Features
Phase-Clear Visualization
CycleOsc and LeadSine reveal turning points as smooth sines, replacing guesswork with a readable phase picture.
Cycle Window Timing
Opens a colored, time-boxed window on phase flips and closes after roughly half a cycle to avoid late action.
Entry Window Fraction
Let the earliest part of each window count; set a fraction so “on-time” actions are favored over last-minute scrambles.
Adaptive Core Underneath
Internally uses an adaptive HMA workflow so cycle detection breathes with conditions instead of staying fixed.
Noise-Aware PreSmooth
A short WMA pre-filter reduces grit before analysis, improving period and phase stability without heavy lag.
Realistic Period Bounds
Min/Max Cycle constrain detection to sensible ranges for your symbol and timeframe, keeping signals practical.
Minimal, On-Chart Clarity
Three elements in one pane—CycleOsc, LeadSine, Cycle Window—make timing states obvious at a glance.
Rooted in Research
Inspired by John Ehlers’ signal-processing approach to market cycles, adapted for everyday, on-chart use.
