Smart Grid Bot

Strategies

Meet the Grid Bot—an execution engine that turns a simple session range into a structured map of opportunities. Instead of guessing where to act, you define the playing field (start/end time), and the bot lays out evenly spaced levels across and around that range. With a single toggle you choose your bias—ride momentum with the trend or fade excess against it—and the bot handles the repetitive work of placing, maintaining, and removing orders within clear guardrails.

Under the hood, an adaptive moving average with a small “flat” threshold filters out micro-noise so you don’t react to every wiggle. Entries can be timed as limit retraces or stop-market continuations; adverse moves are handled by controlled scale-ins with hard caps; recoveries are cost-aware, nudging break-even targets above fees. If the day gets too quiet or too wild, range filters keep you out. If it’s late, an end-of-session switch takes risk to zero.

Everything is visible: grids drawn on the chart, target lines where exits aim to happen, and optional previous-day context. You decide the size, pace, and boundaries; the bot delivers the consistency. It’s not about promises—it’s about structure, discipline, and more control with less busywork.

Description

At its core, the Grid Bot organizes intraday price action around a session range you define—commonly the main cash hours, but any window works. From that high-low, it builds a proportional ladder of levels (a percentage of the range), and can extend the ladder outside the range symmetrically to catch typical overshoots. The result is a repeatable framework that’s agnostic to symbol, assuming your data and account support the instrument.

A one-parameter moving average sets directional context, with a small epsilon so the slope must change “enough” to count as a new cycle. That gives you two clear operating styles. In trend mode, the bot only engages in the prevailing direction, seeking continuation. In counter-trend, it fades excursions back into the range. Either way, you control fill mechanics: limit orders wait for a tag and retrace; stop-market orders lean into momentum through a level.

Risk and exit logic are deliberately simple and transparent. Scale-ins add pre-sized increments at successive levels against the position, capped by a maximum number and the grid’s outer boundary. Targets are expressed in grid steps from the weighted average price, with an option to bias “get back to flat” after a scale-in—plus an offset to cover commissions and slippage. You can also enable a profit-protecting exit on a close across the MA, and a strict “flat at end of session” rule to avoid overnight carry.

Finally, range filters (minimum and maximum) let you require a certain amount of intraday expansion—or avoid outlier volatility—before any orders are allowed. Day-of-week switches and precise start/end times give you calendar control. Visual toggles draw grids and targets directly on the price panel so what the bot intends to do is obvious before it happens. The aim isn’t to be clever; it’s to be clear, consistent, and configurable.

Main Features

Session-Anchored Grid

Define start/end times and the bot builds evenly spaced levels from that day’s range, with optional extensions above and below to catch overshoots.

Noise-Aware Direction Filter

A moving average with a small “flat epsilon” resists micro-whipsaws, flipping direction only when slope meaningfully changes.

Two Entry Styles

Choose limit retraces for precision or stop-market continuations for momentum; both obey your bias (trend or counter-trend)

Controlled Scale-Ins

Add size in measured steps as price moves against you, bounded by a maximum number of additions and hard outer grid limits.

Cost-Aware Break-Even

After a scale-in, optional “target-even” plus a configurable offset aims to cover fees and slippage, not just touch theoretical zero.

End-of-Session Risk-Off

Flatten automatically at the end of your defined window so positions don’t roll into the next day unless you explicitly allow it.

Range Filters

Require a minimum expansion to avoid dead sessions or cap maximum expansion to skip outlier volatility before any orders are placed.

On-Chart Clarity

Plot grids and target lines on the price panel, and optionally show the prior session’s grid for immediate visual context.

FAQ

Please read the FAQ below.

Any instrument your account and data support. The design is session-centric, so intraday charts are typical, but higher or lower intervals work if your session window is meaningful.

They’re spaced by a percentage of the session range (high–low). For example, 25% creates levels every quarter of that range, optionally extended symmetrically outside.

Trend mode engages only with the prevailing direction relative to the MA; counter-trend biases against it, aiming to fade stretches back toward balance.

Limit seeks a retrace to the level for price efficiency; stop-market triggers as price pushes through for time/continuation priority. Pick the style that matches your intent.

It allows operation without waiting for a fresh MA direction flip after the session range forms—useful if you want to start immediately based on the current state.

Enable the cost offset: set a small percent so “break-even” exits aim slightly above zero to cover commissions and typical slippage.

You define the added size per step and the maximum number of steps. Scaling stops at the outermost grid; caps prevent unbounded position growth.

No additional scaling occurs outside the boundary. Management continues for the open position, and a new grid is formed at the next session window.

Yes. Set any start/end time you want, choose the days of week, and optionally extend the trading period if you need post/pre-session management.

Only if you keep backtesting enabled. Turn it off to limit order submission to real-time bars in live operation.
