TWM Essentials 101

The C# Fundamentals You Need to Build Indicators and Strategies

Courses

This course is a practical, hands-on introduction to C# built specifically around the TWM platform, so you can start coding your own indicators and systems right away – without getting lost in abstract theory or console apps you’ll never use again.

You’ll start with the absolute basics: what C#, .NET, the CLR and Visual Studio actually are, how they fit together, and how they connect to TWM. Then we’ll walk through setting up Visual Studio, opening a TWM custom project, compiling it, and building your first “Hello World” indicator that prints directly into the TWM Debug window. From the very first lesson, you’re working exactly in the environment you’ll be using later – inside TWM, not in a toy console project.

Description

The core of the course is a series of short, focused videos (each under 10 minutes) where you’ll learn:

  1. Variables & Data Types
  2. How to use int, double, string, bool, enum, and more. We’ll create real examples, show how to initialise them, and explain the difference between global variables and variables inside methods – all with live output in the TWM Debug window.
  3. Methods & Parameters
  4. How to write simple methods that return values (like int, double, string) or do work with void, pass parameters in, and perform basic calculations (add, subtract, etc.), again seeing results printed in TWM.
  5. Operators & Logic
  6. How to make your code “think” using if, else, switch/case and boolean logic, so your indicators and systems can react to different market situations.
  7. Lists & Arrays
  8. How to store and manage collections of values using arrays and lists, a foundation for any non-trivial code you’ll write.
  9. Classes & Structure
  10. How classes work, how to group logic and data together, and how this maps to the way scripts are structured in TWM.
  11. Loops (for, foreach, while)
  12. How to repeat tasks efficiently using different types of loops, a key concept for processing bars, signals or any repeated calculations.
  13. Dates & Time Handling
  14. How to work with DateTime and TimeSpan to handle timestamps, durations and time-based logic inside your code.

Every video comes with downloadable resources (code snippets, projects, and notes), so you can follow along, copy, modify, and experiment in your own TWM + Visual Studio setup.

By the end of the course, you won’t just “know some C#” – you’ll be comfortable coding directly for TWM, using the Debug window as your main feedback tool and understanding how all the core C# building blocks fit into real-world scripts.
