Bitstamp was founded in Slovenia in 2011 by Nejc Kodrič and Damijan Merlak.

Trading fees

Bitstamp uses a maker-taker fee model, where fees get lower as your 30-day trading volume increases. Makers (those who add liquidity) generally pay less than takers. FX/stablecoin pairs are discounted in the fee calculation, counting for only 20% of volume. Restricted Countries

Bitstamp restricts access to its services in certain countries and regions in accordance with international sanctions and regulatory requirements. These include Russia, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, China, Sudan, and specific parts of Ukraine—namely Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
