Bitget was founded in 2018 by Sandra Lou in Singapore, with an initial focus on cryptocurrency derivatives trading. Under her leadership, the exchange quickly gained traction in the industry. In June 2022, Gracy Chen joined Bitget as Managing Director. She played a key role in driving the company’s global expansion and was appointed CEO in May 2024 [6][7][8].
As of Q1 2025, it has grown to serve over 120 million users across more than 150 countries, ranking among the top three global exchanges by trading volume, with a total of $2.08 trillion recorded in Q1 2025 [1][2]. Bitget is actively advancing crypto adoption through high-profile partnerships. It serves as the Official Crypto Partner of LALIGA. Bitget's strategic partnerships have played a pivotal role in improving its global presence and promoting cryptocurrency adoption [5]. In October 2022, Bitget announced a collaboration with Lionel Messi, the iconic Argentine footballer, to serve as its brand ambassador. This partnership aimed to bridge the worlds of sports and crypto, inspiring fans to explore Web3 and the potential of trading crypto on the exchange. However, as of late 2024, Bitget's partnership with Lionel Messi concluded, marking the end of this significant collaboration [10].
Bitget's ecosystem extends beyond traditional trading. The platform offers a range of services designed to cater to both novice and experienced traders. The platform supports over 750 cryptocurrencies and provides users with advanced trading tools and features, such as: margin trading with leverage up to 125x, a robust derivatives market featuring perpetual futures and options, and a copy trading feature that allows users to replicate the strategies of successful traders [2][5]. Furthermore, the Bitget Token (BGB) offers users a range of exclusive benefits, including trading fee discounts, early access to premium token launches via the Launchpad, voting rights for project listings, and additional perks. With 1.2 billion BGB tokens currently in circulation out of a total supply of 2 billion [11], Bitget uses its native token to boost user engagement and reward its growing community.
For users interested in passive income, Bitget provides the "Earn" program, which encompasses various financial products such as staking, savings, and liquidity mining. This program allows users to earn returns on their crypto holdings through flexible and fixed-term investments [2].
Bitget also places a strong emphasis on security and transparency. The exchange maintains a Proof of Reserves system, ensuring that user assets are fully backed. Additionally, Bitget has established a $725 million protection fund to safeguard user assets against unforeseen events, maintaining as of February 2025 a reserve ratio of 186%, significantly more than the industry standard [1][2][3].
Bitget adopts a tiered VIP system for trading fees, where users benefit from lower maker and taker fees as their 30-day spot or futures volume, asset balance, and BGB holdings increase. Spot trading fees start at 0.1% and drop to 0% for top-tier VIPs, with an extra 20% discount if fees are paid using BGB tokens. Futures trading enjoys even lower rates, starting from 0.02%/0.06%. Margin interest rates and crypto loan terms also improve with higher VIP status, offering progressively larger discounts. Withdrawal fees vary by asset and network, with many coins offering free withdrawals on certain chains [9].
Bitget restricts access to its services in certain regions. Users residing in the following countries and jurisdictions are not permitted to open accounts or trade on the platform:
Canada (Ontario, Alberta), Crimea, Cuba, Hong Kong, Iran, North Korea, Singapore, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Somalia, South Sudan, and the United States [4].
